In-Home Stairlifts – Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of stairs can a stairlift be used on?

Any kind! At Health System Services, we offer straight line stair lifts of any length. We also offer customized stairlifts for curved or winding staircases. Our expert technicians can handle any job, from steep or narrow basement staircases to curved grand staircases. We can visit your home or place of business, quickly evaluate your unique situation and develop a plan for how to keep you mobile.

How long does it take to have a stairlift installed?

One of the benefits of being a locally owned and operated company is that, for most straight line stairlifts, we keep the best American-made brands in stock here in Western New York. We understand timeliness is a customer priority. For standard lifts, we normally offer same-day or next-day installation, and never more than five business days. There can be a longer wait time for customized stairlifts depending on the complexity of the project. Generally, the order takes about five business days to deliver. Installation will be timed with that delivery. Our experts will be able to determine the best balance between timeliness and effectiveness to meet your needs and get the job done right.

How much do stairlifts cost, and will my health insurance cover any of it?

Unfortunately, the simple answer is that there is no simple answer. A straight line stairlift can cost as little as $2,500. The longer the staircase, the higher the cost. Customized lifts are considerably more expensive. While insurance generally doesn’t cover the cost of stairlifts, we  also offer a range of affordable financing options. We understand that feeling safe and maintaining mobility in your home is truly priceless and we do everything we can to make sure cost is not an impediment.

Will my stairlift work in a power outage?

Yes. Our stairlifts are all battery powered, meaning even if there is a loss of electricity in an emergency, you will still be able to use them until the battery is exhausted. The lifts plug into a standard home outlet and charge on their own so you never have to worry about whether it will work when you need it most.

Who will install the lift and what happens if it requires maintenance?

Health System Services is a locally owned small business. We pride ourselves on exemplary customer service. Our expert technicians are fellow Western New Yorkers who are industry leaders trained specifically to install these lifts. In the unlikely event the lift requires maintenance, our office is located in Western New York and we can have someone out to examine the problem immediately. Because we’re a local business, we offer the flexibility and responsiveness that other companies cannot.

What kind of warranty comes with my stairlift?

For starters, the Bruno brand stairlifts we carry are American-made and have shown a long history of requiring little to no maintenance, even years after installation—so warranty information is almost never an issue. But all Bruno stairlifts come with a 2-year warranty on all parts and a 5-year warranty on major components with no cost for labor on any part under warranty.
